Fibre-Reinforced Concrete Is Sustainable and Cost-Effective for Water-Retaining Structures

چکیده
Although fibre-reinforced-concrete (FRC) is increasingly used, it has been occasionally applied to water-retaining structures (WRSs), and no comprehensive design guidelines are currently available for the of WRSs with FRC. A methodology such applications based on recommendations research three reference scenarios representing a wide range WRSs: flood defence wall, weir swimming pool wall. For each these scenarios, alternative designs using different FRC mix have compared through statistical analysis several relevant parameters. This study confirms that use significantly reduces reinforcement requirements when conventional reinforced concrete solutions. Clear trends identified between structural performance resulting WRS designs, characteristics fibre type dimensions. considered not only but also total cost environmental footprint per unit length WRSs, considerations further case adoption in applications. Overall, dosages below 0.75% 2% volume steel synthetic fibres, respectively, can lead lower carbon than their counterparts.

متن کاملStrength Development and Water Permeability of Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete
Research reported in this paper was carried to study the water permeability of steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) with varied aspect ratios of steel fibres. Corrugated steel fibres were used in the investigation at constant fibre content of 0.5%. Relationship of water permeability with compressive strength and split tensile strengths has been presented. The water permeability was observed t...
متن کاملApplications and Properties of Fibre Reinforced Concrete
In conventional concrete, micro-cracks develop before structure is loaded because of drying shrinkage and other causes of volume change. When the structure is loaded, the micro cracks open up and propagate because of development of such micro-cracks, results in inelastic deformation in concrete. Fibre reinforced concrete (FRC) is cementing concrete reinforced mixture with more or less randomly ...

Corrosion of steel reinforcement is a major factor in the deterioration of highway and bridge infrastructure. A survey of the condition of a reinforced concrete structure is the first step towards its rehabilitation. A rapid, cost-effective and non-destructive condition survey offers key information on the evaluation of corrosion, and aids in the quality assurance of concrete repair and rehabil...
